Not Doing It Right,” a literacy narrative by Dr. Robin Anne Reid, Professor of English,  Department of Literature and Languages, Texas A&M-Commerce

“Not Doing it Right” illustrates a young child’s desire to read in spite of the rules established by the educators where she lived. Through this literacy narrative, Reid discusses her ability to teach herself the rules for academia as they applied to her and her road to becoming an English teacher. “Not Doing it Right” contributes to the National Conversation on Writing by describing the reading and writing that often occurs in spite of literacy education that might appear to work against such learning. onnections that occur between reading and writing.
